QuadMed is currently seeking a full time Occupational Health Physician Assistant with 3+ years of experience in the occupational health field to work at the Miller/Coors Occupational Health Clinic located within their production facility in Milwaukee, WI.


The Occupational Health Physician Assistant (PA) will perform the day-to-day clinical and operational activities for the Occupational Health Services at Miller/Coors. The PA works under the direction of the Client’s Safety Manager and Corporate Occupational Health & Wellness Manager and collaboratively with the Client’s Human Resources, as well as, the primary care clinical staff at the Wellness Center on regulatory, health and wellness issues of the employee population. In addition to managing the site’s occupational health program, the PA, under the supervision of the Physician, is responsible for assisting in the delivery of health care and patient care management. Under a physician’s supervision, the PA is responsible for the delivery of a broad range of medical services, including taking medical histories, conducting physical examinations, ordering diagnostic tests, administering treatments (e.g., suturing, casting and minor surgery), monitoring patients, prescribing medications, assisting physicians, and counseling and educating patients

Key Responsibilities:

Provide prompt, appropriate clinical care to all employees in conformance with company policies, clinical protocols, state regulations and ethical standards. This includes worksite injury/illness treatment, triage, coordination with QuadMed’s Occupational Health Clinics, and referral to specialists as necessary.
Provide onsite medical services by taking medical histories, conducting physical examinations, ordering diagnostic tests, administering treatments (e.g., suturing, casting and minor surgery), monitoring patients, prescribing medications, assisting physicians, and counseling and educating patients.
Provide basic nursing duties such as the recording of vital signs, audiograms, vision testing, urine collection, blood collection, spirometry, respirator fit testing, injections and basic first aid is also required
Manages the site Workers Compensation Program including providing case management for all employee work-related injuries and/or illnesses for the purposes of reducing illness and absenteeism.
Documents all clinical care provided in required electronic medical record.
Coordinates site disability programs including providing clinical oversight and case management of site’s non-occupational disability benefit programs.
Provides clinical oversight for the site’s Medical First Response Team. Collaboratively facilitates trainings.
Coordinates and manages pre-placement, OSHA mandated and non-mandated surveillance programs such as drug screening, HazMat, respiratory protection, and hearing conservation programs.
Develops and implements other administrative policies and procedures to ensure the smooth operation of the Occupational Health Clinic.
Provides appropriate follow-up communication with the Client’s Human Resources and Safety Departments, as well as, the Wellness Center.
Coordinates and delivers health education training and seminars in collaboration with Safety and the Wellness Manager. Acts as site’s Wellness Champion and supports wellness program initiatives. Participates in ergonomic initiatives.
Provides occupational health medical support to additional locations as an active member of the EHS network.
Refers employees who need the attention of a primary care physician to the providers at the Wellness Center.
Job Requirements:
Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on an equivalent basis


Education:
Successful completion of an advanced practice degree from an approved Physician Assistant program.

Experience:
Minimum three years occupational health or other related experience (family medicine, occupational medicine, acute care, internal medicine, community health, emergency/urgent care, home health)
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Currently licensed in the State of Wisconsin to practice as a Physician Assistant
CPR Certification
NPI & DEA
Current National Board Certification from the State of Wisconsin
BLS-Certification
Certification in other Occupational Health related services (CAOHC, NIOSH) is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Analytical ability necessary to evaluate and determine health status of patient and implement proper care.
Interpersonal skills necessary to teach and counsel patients as well as interact with clients/employers and insurance company representatives.
A comprehensive understanding of the patient care procedures, medical protocols, and testing procedures necessary to support an Occupational Health clinic.
Computer skills in EMR, word processing and database software programs.
